Activation Wizard Troubleshooting
In order to run the Activation Wizard, the file validation.exe must exist in the FleetVIP folder and it must be granted access to execute as a program. Otherwise, you may receive a File Not Found error or an Access Denied error.
An error typically happens because you have installed FleetVIP to a network drive and your site has unnecessary restrictions in place that prevent validation.exe from executing. If you have installed to a network drive and encounter an error when running the Activation Wizard, then here are some options to correct the situation:
1) Run the setupav.exe installer program again and specify the intended network folder and/or drive location.
2) Attempt to activate using an account with administrator rights so that validate.exe will be able to run and perform the validation. Once activated, application users do not need administrator rights.
3) Modify the rights on validate.exe so that you have read and execute permission to it and then attempt to activate.
4) Your network administrator may need to re-run the installation program using an account with FULL administrator rights so that the installation program can properly set rights on the various files including validate.exe. Please note it is not unusual for an administrator to think he/she has full administrator rights when in fact those rights have been restricted at some point in the past.
5) You can also try installing and activating on your local C: drive and then copy the vip.tps file to your network folder. Then run the setupav.exe installer program again and direct it to that same network folder. (Please note that copying the vip.tps file from one drive to a network drive could overwrite data you have already entered in the network folder version.)
