Why do my due dates not calculate correctly?
This is a fairly common question when first starting to populate a new FleetVIP database. FleetVIP needs a certain amount of history before future due dates can be forecast accurately. Without that history data, the program does not know how much the vehicle or unit is being used and therefore may produce confusing due dates.
Usually entering one or two completed tasks at least 4 months in the past per vehicle is sufficient. Sometimes more tasks are needed. Also, you may need to adjust the Date Acquired and Initial Miles on the vehicle profile if they are not reasonable. That information is also part of the history and can cause problems if they do not make sense. If you just pulled numbers out of the hat, they might cause incorrect future due dates.
